This year was not a very good one for the monarchs in my area. Usually they are all over my milkweed but this year I only saw a few.
Recently I found a large caterpillar on the milkweed... the only one. I kept it in a cage for a few days and it has now cocooned.
Is this too late for the thing to migrate on time? I live in central Pennsylvania. I feel really bad for it. But I am sure keeping it in a cage all winter is worse than releasing even though it probably will not make it
I will be sure to let you know when it hatches
