I found this today on a trail in the woods. I don't want to keep it too long without knowing what it eats. Please help!

so here is another view . A friend told me to add some dirt to see if it is a burrower. It did not take 5 minutes and it was already in the dirt. So, any thoughts on how long it may take to pupate?

I put "green caterpillar" into the bug guide search. Maybe you can look through and see if you can find it.

How long is it?

I looked thru my caterpillar book and didn't find anything that looked like it that should be in woods.

Maybe somekind of Beetle? Maybe some kind of worm?

The closest I found to it appeared to be a imported cabbage worm.
