bad year, so far

Only 2 monarchs seen so far this year. The weather was horrible in June and July around here, rainy and cool. Not good for butterflies. Oh well, maybe there will be some on their way back to Mexico, if August dries up.

Just attended a presentation the other day.

Houston, Texas had the hottest, dryest JUNE on record.

So, the weather may be a big factor.

It is now starting to get wetter here, so that is much better. Hummers are now coming for their fall migration south. So far, not seeing the huge numbers as in the past. So, don't know how this year will go. Usually get 100s going thru my small backyard.
