Butterflies and hummingbirds, I'm crazy about them. Majority of the plants in my yard is devoted to the little flying jewels.

Thanks for the nice compliment. It's just a fun hobby of mine to try and get some good pictures of the butterflies and hummingbirds through out my yard. It can tough sometimes, but It's fun trying.

I enjoyed your website. I just got on the forum to see if I could find out some answers to my questions. I looked at your website and it did answer some of my questions. I've been raising the "other" butterfly for 3 years but figured out everything on my own because they didn't have a special website like we do for the Monarchs. Anyway, I have been doing it just about the same way you have. Instead of using the foam, I put sand in the containers. But, I'm going to go buy some foam for my monarchs. I've enjoyed the "other" butterflies, but the Monarch's are just too cool! I just started my monarch waystation this spring (not certified yet). My milkweed is anywhere between 6 inches and 18 inches. I just about gave up hope for attracting any Monarchs this year, then all of a sudden I saw two females in my garden on my zinnias, then on my milkweed. I went to check when they left, and I had eggs! I was sooo excited. You want to tell someone that will share your excitement...I'm just glad this forum is here to share the excitement with others. A lot of people thought I was nuts to change my vegetable garden into a Monarch Waystation. Why would you plant weeds in your garden?

Where did you get that zippered cage at?

I was at Walgreens last night and I found these little collapsable mesh net totes. It's advertised as a travel bag for your soap, shampoo, etc. Anyway, they are made just like the butterfly pavillion, but they don't have a lid, and the bottom is net too. It even has a handle strap and elastic to hold it closed when you fold it up. I thought it would be perfect to put over a milkweed plant to protect the caterpillar or something to put them in if you brought them into your house. They are 10" tall and 8-1/2" wide. They were only $1.50 each. I bought two of them to see if they would be of use. They come in the colors of red, white, or blue. I bought a red one and a blue one...thinking that they wouldn't show dirt as bad. However, I think the white one would make it easier to see into. I think I'm going to go buy me about 15 more. I'm pretty sure you can buy a plastic cover with elastic to fit over the top of your bowls that would work well.

I have been waiting for caterpillars all summer, but now that they are here, I'm am running around trying to figure out what I'm going to do with them.
