Icon under your name

How do I get an icon to show up under my name like I've seen from a number of members? I'd love to have an icon of a caterpillar to view with my name, "Stripe."

I see you've learned what that "avatar" setting in your profile does but for the benefit of others I'll go into a little more detail here...

An AVATAR is a small graphic used to represent your online identity. It appears under your username in any postings you make and is also visible in your profile that may be browsed via the Memberlist link above. You can see my current avatar over there on the left - pretty cute, huh?

If you'd like to use an avatar you can choose from the few graphics that I have already provided in the avatar galleries - accessible via the Profile link above (you must be logged in to edit your profile).

I'll be periodically adding graphics so if you have suggestions for other avatars please feel free to let me know by posting a message in the Suggestions and Comments forum and I'll see what I can do.

So I can't add one of my own photos as an "avatar?"

"Displays a small graphic image below your details in posts. Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width can be no greater than 72 pixels, the height no greater than 72 pixels, and the file size no more than 6 KB."

This information would indicate to me that I should be able to choose a photo, otherwise the avatars on your list would already be sized....

Sorry I didn't get all of this together in one post but I'm just exploring the site and finding questions...like RozieMozie has her "butterfly baby" photo as part of her signature. How would I do that?

Howdy! Wondering why sometimes my signature photo shows up... and sometimes it doesn't...? I have prefs set to default use my signature, but I don't see it.

Thanks for the help (and watch, my sig will show up perfectly fine after I hit "submit"...)
