Monarchs in Metro Detroit

Postby AEPruch » Mon Jun 22, 2009 11:43 am

I have had a pair of monarchs visiting my garden every year for the past two or three years now, since I have let milkweed grow in my yard. I'm not sure if they're the same pair, or perhaps their offspring, but it's just nice to see them every year. They seem to flutter around my yard most of the day! I haven't seen monarchs yet this year, but I'm sure they're on their way!

The Monarchs have 4-5 generations. In the spring, they are arriving from the south. They spend the winter in Mexico or along the gulf coast or Florida. They are probably the great grandchildren of those that have visited in the past.
