Life can be short in the milkweed patch

Postby John Beaulieu » Sat Aug 13, 2005 4:47 pm

I check my milkweeds in the garden daily for new eggs. I have mostly A. incarnata (Swamp Milkweed) and some Mexican Milkweed. The clumps of milkweed are not only popular with the butterflies but with a wide range of bees and wasps. It is very tough for a caterpillar to survive with all the predators. I have also seen Stink Bugs attack young caterpillars. When I see characteristic munching on leaves, I'll look for a little caterpillar. Most times I'm too late and only find dead ones. This photo is of a typical tiny caterpillar which has fallen prey to something.

hi John, the link you have seems to be for your personal login page... is your album open to the public?

John, for your Photobucket account, I think you have to either make your album public (so we can see it without a password), or keep it private but attach the optional read-only password and let us know what it is. My daughters use Photobucket to store pictures of their art portfolios, but I don't get a password screen like yours before viewing them. Looking forward to seeing your pictures!
