My husband just introduced me to this site, and so I thought I would post some art activities that I have used in my classroom. I had my students make mobiles with paper butterflies which they designed (intermediate level students but this could also work for junior students). With the older students, I used 3 bamboo skewers and various lengths of thread for the "balanced" part. For younger students, a coat hanger works well.
Another art activity I did, was a fan. Each student had to make two different butterfly pictures on 8 1/2 x 11 white paper. This pcitures were then folded 4 times, and cut on the fold line (make sure to number your slices). These slices were then put glued, alternately on a long sheet of construction paper that also had been folded.
The students had some difficulty with the fine motor, but in the end the results were fabulous.
