Differences in Migrants

Postby dannus plex » Sun Sep 21, 2008 10:08 pm

We all know the migrants are similar to the summer Monarchs, but are their any physical differences?
The wife of a deceased regional authority on butterflies mentioned today that her husband stated that the migrants would leave less scales on your hands when handled than the summer Monarchs. So, possibly the migrants had more durable scales to manage the long flight and longer life span. Interesting!

Any comments??

I have never read this anywhere. I am touching monarchs spring, summer, and fall and can't tell a bit of difference between them. :?
