Are this year's tags extra-sticky, or is it me???

Postby JenCT » Mon Aug 25, 2008 6:09 am

Hi everyone - I'm having a little trouble with the tags this year - the glue seems much stronger than usual, and the tags are staying on my fingers/hard to stick to the butterflies. Is it my imagination? Are any others having this difficulty?

Thanks, Jen :D

Are you having problems when you put a bit of pressure on the tags to adhere them or are you touching the tags to apply them?

Caution for all: Do not use your fingers to apply the tags. I crease the edge by folding a tiny bit to lift the tag and then place it on my thumb nail--just a tiny edge, then place it on the butterfly wing--Denise Gibbs taught me this trick. Monarch Watch used to recommend using a toothpick to pick up tags. Just attached it on the edge of the toothpick and then apply. The reason is that our hands contain oils and the tags may not stick to the butterfly after handling with our hands. I've heard we have so much oil on our hands that if you mix pie dough with your hands you can add extra oil.

Thanks so much! I'll try that. Yes, I WAS using my fingers to apply the tags, but I won't do that anymore. :D
