Tag Male or female? Short on tags?

Postby Lindabird » Mon Sep 11, 2006 6:41 am

Hi! I only ordered 75 tags, but will have approx. 150 to 200 to release. Is there a preference on the gender of the butterfly which I should tag?

This might be a dumb questions, but I'm new to this.

Hmmmm....I guess this was a dumb question. Oh well, I just ordered 150 more tags so I will hopefully have enough for all of them!

There are no dumb questions, just questions that are never answered because people feel they are dumb.

The sex ratio of butterflies is roughly 50/50 so tagging either is fine. Females can't lay eggs without males and there would be no males or females without females.
