Teaching with monarchs

Those of you looking for ways to use monarchs to connect students with a variety of interesting topics might find it useful to check out the "Teaching with Monarchs" article in our January 2005 Email Update:

http://www.monarchwatch.org/update/2005 ... ching.html

The topics covered include monarchs, developmental zero, degree days, cold summers, jet streams, volcanoes, the year without a summer, and much more. There are lots of links to web sites that lead students to informative discussions of each of these topics. Guidlines are also provided for how to find temperature records from your area on the internet.

Thank you for the suggestion. I work with middle school students and use our study of monarchs to help students learn how to use the scientific method. Teresa from Minnesota
