Stop Collecting Eggs

Postby Fishslime » Sun Aug 26, 2007 11:56 am

with 4 weeks til peak migration(lat 40-sept 19)I'm considering stopping my egg collecting(Aug 26)-last adult sighted 06 was 11/1 - might be able to go another couple of weeks but milkweed is turning-nectar flowers are looking great-when will my Waystation be listed???and can I assume any hatches from now on will be going to Mexico???

Did you check the Registry today?

www.monarchwatch.org/waystations/regist ... hp?id=1553

I ran an update last night :D

The timing of the migration is not a perfect system - out of two butterflies that emerge on the same day in the fall, one may be migratory while the other is reproductive. You're right that it is getting late in your area for reproductive adults - it's likely that most won't have time to get off another generation...

Jim

The newly hatched cats I am finding, is there still enough time for them to complete their cycle?

Considering that we've had several monarchs tagged in Minnesota well into October recovered in Mexico I'd say the answer to your questions is a definite "maybe" :D Let's hope!
