Belmar Butterfly Project

I live in Belmar NJ which is a seaside town near Asbury Park (Springsteen Country). My wife and I have been raising monarchs for a few years and this year we managed over 400 with a few Swallowtails to boot. I am a member of my local environmental commission and I have convinced them to plant some bird and butterfly habitat. The town has dedicated a spot for us and we are going to start planning over the winter. I have engaged some other partners in our local community garden so we are already well on our way! It only seems natural to come here and look for some more partners for our little project. Maybe some Monarch Watch folks would like to help us with a little kickoff in the spring when the monarchs start showing up. Does anyone have any helpful suggestions? :D

Write articles for your newspapers and see if you can get them printed. Many reporters are interested in this type of story and they will print it free. When Dr. Urquhart was working on his tagging program, Nora his wife wrote articles about the program to enlist taggers (helpers).

Did you know that you can search for Waystations in your state on the registery? Just click search on the bottom of that first page. Too bad there are not any full addresses or emails, you could invite them to come help you.
