Great Fall Migration!

Postby beachbutterfly » Tue Sep 26, 2006 8:13 pm

This is the best year for monarchs I can remember in a long time and today was an incredible site. I rode my bike down the beach for an hour or so and counted over 80 monarchs in that time! The other day I was in Cape May and we found a roost that had at least 50 butterflies on it. This week in Cape May should be incredible with all the butterflies traveling down the coast.
I have three chrsalis left to hatch and then I get to sterlize all my tanks for next year. I sure hope the Monarchs have a good winter and that next year is even better!

strength of migration

I am impressed too by what I have seen. But I have only paid attention these last two years. And I remember as a kid wondering why there were so many monarchs around towards the end of the year. Seems maybe back then there were more.

I feel like I might not know what a really big migration year looks like.
