New Monarchs in Minnesota on Oct. 25

Postby thenomad » Mon Oct 25, 2004 3:16 pm

I am located in Southern Minnesota. I tag for the Monarch Watch program. I thought this would be interesting with :) how unusual the 2004 migration has been.

I was tagging Monarchs up until Oct. 8th in this area and there were still a lot of butterflies in the area thru the cold snap on Oct 13th. Then today, Oct 25th, I found three more monarchs in the yard. I was able to capture one for tagging. Her hind wings are very wrinkled and I not sure if the tag will hold. Anyway, I just thought it was really unusual to find Monarchs in Minnesota this late in October. Thought someone might want to know about it.
