We have a great mantis population--saw two little babies already this year!, and since we do all organic / native gardening, that's why I bring all the monarch eggs / caterpillars inside to grow. Our milkweed patch is literally right outside our front door, so the cats always have fresh milkweed to munch. We just check the patch every day to 'harvest' the monarchs and let the mantises keep all the other bugs in check!
Oh, except for our two toads... they come out every night--one on the front doorstep--one by the side door--and they love to eat those darn beetles we have all over the place! They'll even take a beetle right out of your hand!! They can eat all the other bugs, so long as we save our beautiful monarchs from being dinner!
