Preserving "Striped Pajamas"

Is there any way to preserve the exoskeletons so they maintain their color? I have some in magnifier containers for presentations and the ones from this summer are all faded to black. :shock:

I assume you're talking about the caterpillar cuticle...unfortunately, it is very difficult to retain the original coloration of immature insects - most preserved specimens end up with muted colors. In this case, good photos are the next best thing to a live specimen :cheesy:
