LA Times story on Ortho using monarch cat pic on pesticides

Postby Mona Miller » Tue Jul 10, 2012 1:46 pm

David Snow is from Thousand Oaks, CA.

I emailed David Snow and this was his comment about signing his petition:
"Please sign it I'll have it up for couple weeks I would like to get thousand sigs before we turn it in Thanks for the help ! David"

The petition is at the bottom of this page:

If the petition isn't on the above website, just do a search on "Monarchs". It is important that people let Scott's know that we care. Frankly, I wish they'd stop selling this stuff. It is very bad for pollinators. Deadly and long lasting.

Instead of spraying insecticide, what alternative effective method do you expect Hedgerow Farms in Winters, Calif. to use to control aphids on their 2 acres of farmed milkweed? (see photo below):

Aphids can be controlled by welcoming a diverse insect population; Not by spraying blanket poison to kill all living beings.

This type of pesticides is harmful for pollinators. Xerces Society
just had a press release on these type of systemic pesticide.
Apparently, the plants absorb them and they are present in the nectar.

BTW, keep signing David's petition. It's still up. Last time I looked, he had over 600 signatures.
