Electro Magnetic Radiation and Monarchs

Postby jhammer » Thu May 31, 2012 8:08 am

I'm in the process of creating a large "butterfly garden/park" -- habitat for monarchs and other butterflies with host and plants for nectaring.
The location is near some high voltage electric utility lines. My question: Has any research been done on the effects of EMR on butterflies? Would they avoid this park because of the utility lines? I'd hate to get the whole thing planted with natives/attractors only to discover that the EMR keeps the butterflies away. Any information regarding this question would be most appreciated! Thanks.

Actually power line rights of ways are good habitat for butterflies. Some power companies promote butterfly habitats in their rights of ways.

We've discussed this previously.
