My Wife

Postby windrider » Tue May 15, 2012 9:43 pm

Some of you may remember my mentioning last year that my wife had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and was battling it.

It's been a tough year, and we thought she had beaten it. Unfortunately, it reared it's ugly head and, yesterday, May 14 at 3pm EDT, she lost the battle.

I have 10 2nd instar cats that I had hoped I'd at least be able to bring to adult hood for her sake, and we could let them go together one last time...but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

I'm sorry to hear of her passing. Perhaps when they finish their cycle and emerge, you can release as a memorial for her.

Bill: My heartfelt condolences on your wife's untimely passing. Hopefully the rewarding times you shared rearing Monarchs together will provide some beautiful if bittersweet memories in the years to come, and serve as a lovely reminder that life does goes on, in the form of these magnificent butterflies.

I am also so sorry. I hope you take some small comfort in the butterflies, because she would want you to.

Thank you, everyone.

The first 3 to emerge were named in her honor: http://monarchs.winterholerct.net/monarchs/?p=419

Thank you.

Butterflies yield me thoughts of lazy summer days in a sunlit meadow of flowers with a glass of iced tea, innocence and trust, hope and love. I can't see where they never would make a wonderful tribute.

I recently read a wonderful book by Jo Brewer, called "Wings in the Meadow". The shipping is more than the used book costs. I loved reading it. Of course, it is about Monarchs.
