Still seeing Monarchs in New England...almost Novemebr!

Postby dandjtaylor » Mon Oct 24, 2011 11:45 am

I couldn't believe it today at lunch time when I saw these two on the only blossoms left standing...the zinnias. I thought about tagging them, but I felt that by not inducing stress and a little bit of baggage, they may still have a chance, so I let them be...taking only a couple of pictures. Here they are. I hope they aren't too late.

I know. I just posted in another thread that I've seen late stragglers, too. I'm not optimistic for them.

If they can just get a little further they will be okay. The VA Beach area doesn't have early frost and some Monarchs even wintered over there in 2005.
