Releasing Location ?

Postby donnap27 » Thu Sep 01, 2011 10:40 pm

i have quite a few chrysalis that will emerge next weekend and i will be travelling ...
Question:
is there a problem taking them with me a releasing them in a location other than where they were laid and raised; i.e., i live in SW Michigan and will be an hour south of Toledo, Ohio ....
i will be tagging them, and of course, would record the location of where i released them.
thanks !

No problem. Milkweed and Monarchs have spread around the world via being inadvertently transported by humans.

Are you crossing state lines? It is against the law to transport butterflies or moths across state lines.

Nope, they don't know they need a permit, but now you do.

Many people do not know, but not knowing the law does not mean that if you break it you won't be fined--if you are caught.
