Monarch Stages and Adults Needed

Postby Mona Miller » Wed Aug 31, 2011 8:31 am

If you are in Maryland and can help Denise, please email her at monarch301@verizon.net

She posted this to Monarch Watch yesterday:
"At our Boyds, Maryland Monarch Waystation, we currently have no monarch eggs or larvae. We have 2 caterpillars left in our rearing cages that will pupate by the end of the week. We have multiple pupae that hopefully will produce adults by Saturday. All adults we released in the gardens this week have left. This is the first time in 16 years that we have not had all life stages of monarchs present for our Labor Day weekend Monarch Fiesta Day. Last year we had hundreds of each.

Yesterday I witnessed monarchs engaging in directional flight on northwest winds at 10mph. This is the earliest I have observed migrating monarchs in this area."
