I need homes for caterpillars (SE MI)

Postby Monarch MaMa » Sat Jul 09, 2011 6:23 pm

I'm in my second year of breeding monarchs to help the population. I've gathered over 1000 eggs in the last week and I need help raising all these.

I live near Clarkston MI - 1/2 way between Flint & Pontiac. If you want some cats - contact me as I have lots & lots to give away. Parents have all been tested & are OE free. Most were collected as wild cats in early June. I take care not to let siblings mate to keep the genetic pool intact and healthy.

I'm especially looking for people to take at least 20 at a time. I have one friend who took 250. I also have gallon plastic tubs for rearing chambers to donate if you need some.

I would love to help. I'm in SW Ohio though. I'm used to rearing anywhere from 20-75 cats at a time, but this year, only FOUR eggs to date on my milkweed, which I find very disconcerting.

I don't have plans to visit MI anytime soon; however, my mom is in GR and is actually coming to visit next weekend and she would be more than happy to bring them with her if you have any way to get them to GR. (She might take some herself, as she started raising them too a couple of years ago.)
