Monarch in Portsmouth NH

I saw a monarch at the milkweed patch in my yard July 29!
Hope she laid lots of eggs!
I will try to raise some cats in 2 aquariums in the yard
with a screen over them.
I will use one to raise them
and swap over the 2nd when I clean the tank.
That way I will always have a clean tank ready
to go.
I will put them under a table in the shade.

Years ago when I was a youngster, I had a large rabbit cage
that I raised about a hundred butterflies. It was so great
to let them go!

Keep you posted on how many survive.

It sounds like a nice set-up, but being left outside, you may find that some of your cats may be parasitized by wasps and tachnid flies while they are lying belly-up on the screened top, in the phase just before they drop into the J-position.

**By the way, even though I have been raising monarchs for close to ten years now, and avidly following this forum for virtually the entire time, this is my very first post!

I hope we see you post more. I use a parasite proof net container. The flies can't lay through it.
