Madison CT sighting (caterpillars!)

Went outside to check on the few milkweed plants we have in our yard and was shocked to find two big-ish monarch caterpillars! We haven't seen any butterflies yet, but obviously they've been around. Both caterpillars are right around an inch long. I brought them inside and have my fingers crossed they have no parasites!

I wasn't expecting them--we haven't even started looking for monarchs yet. My kids are still in school so it doesn't seem like it's time for monarchs yet! Today we'll head over to a local park with lots of milkweed to see if we can find more cats or eggs.
