We saw our first monarch fluttering through the garden this morning in Hamburg (south of Buffalo), NY. The fun begins!

First eggs in Buffalo (Eggertsville) a bit late this season! 17 eggs were found June 1 on swamp milkweed plants around various spots in yard.

After a slow couple of months, today I watched a monarch spending lots of time in the yard laying eggs -- 21 at last count -- mostly on common, only a couple on my tropical.
