New for 2011

On Friday I checked the new growth of the milkweeds and showed them to the grandkids. Yesterday, April the 30th, while working in the yard, I spotted the first monarch of the spring. She spent a couple of hours flying around the common and purple milkweed plants and almost surely laid a few eggs. Hopefully in a few days there will be some little caterpillars. But Kansas City, being unpredictable weather wise, reverted to a typical spring pattern and today it's only 45 degrees.
