yes sad article...add the Black swallow-wort expansion into the equation. Low milkweed numbers being replaced by an agressive invader who is most definitely expanding its range and thereby essentially making monarchs waste more of their eggs.I dont think the big boys (thats the ones with DR or PHD)have considered it enough..if you have a struggling population and add a decrease of milkweed with an major increase of Black swallow-wort , its a double down...you lose % of eggs from less milkweed PLUS a larger and ever increasing % lost from wasted eggs on Black Swallow-wort!!!!
