Monarch with Tag in SC

Postby birdfinder » Thu Sep 23, 2010 6:46 pm

Hi, I'm new here. I just got activated today. I'm more into birding than butterflys, but I just wanted to touch base with someone here to say I had a monarch on my lantana Tuesday Sept 21, with a tag from Univ. of KS. I took pictures on my camera with the macro setting and the info on the tag read:
TAG@ KU.EDU
1-888-TAGGING
NMT 568

I had no idea that monarchs were tagged until earlier this month when I went on a beach birdwalk (I live in Charleston SC) and we saw lots of monarchs and our guide is a naturalist and was telling us all about how its done. I feel so fortunate that one from KS ended up feeding on my lantana this week. Can you post pictures on this forum? If so, I'd love to show you the pics I took of the monarch with the tag.

No pictures can be posted to the sighting section, but you can post in other areas. There's info in the FAQ section upper right on how to post pictures.

I posted your message to Dplex-L, another Monarch Watch email list.
