two not hatching.

Out of 5 in a container, two chrysalises turned clear, as if they would hatch within a few hours, but just stayed that way, while other chrysalises went from green to clear to hatched. It's been at least three or four days? They don't appear 'degraded' at all. I'm wondering why they're taking so long, should I give up on them, or give them more time, or what? It is starting to get a little cooler here, if that makes any difference, but I still see a few cats and plenty of butterflies outside.

Are these inside or outside? What is your inside temp? The cycle goes slower as it gets cooler and faster when it is warmer.

Try putting a incandescent lamp about a foot away from them. Before you do that, spray them with some water. If they don't come out soon (give them some more time), they may be dead. Sorry.

They're in a sunroom. The blinds had been drawn to protect them from direct pm sun, though. I'll try misting and lamping. Interesting that the cycle slows like that. I learn so much here!

When using the incandescent light, I spray them maybe about 3 times a day so they don't dry out. Just a light mist.
