short hindwing

I came home to an eclosed male with a short hind wing. shall I release it? euthanize? please advise. this is my first potential casualty. poor thing :(

Don't kill it before you test it. If it is okay, then let it go. It may be able to fly. It just might have a birth defect and no disease.
