Eggs Sept 2nd in Michigan??

Postby Schmetterling » Sun Sep 05, 2010 10:22 am

I thought egg laying was over, haven't found any for about 2 weeks. Thursday Sept 2nd, I found 13 on one milkweed, and am 100% positive there weren't any the day before. Gathered them up and placed them in container, next morning they were hatched. Since this is my first full season, will they have enough time before the cold weather gets here? Helpful suggestions for what I am thinking are late arrivals.

When is your first frost? Milkweed is killed during hard frosts. Inside rearing usually takes from 3 to 4 weeks--that is depending on how hot it is inside. I keep my temps at 77, but in the place where I rear my larvae it is 80.
