Trying New milkweed.

I'm growing Swamp Milkweed now and i'm going to see if it will attract more butterflys than Mexican Milkweed. Swamp Milkweed has pink and purple flowers too.

I am green with envy of all the varieties of Milkweed you have in the US. Here there are two for sure, perhaps two others, but the restrictions on bringing in seeds/plants of other varieties are so tight.

One day I will come to the US/Canada and see for myself!

Swamp milkweed seemed to be the favorite of the monarch for me this year. We'd get in trouble for sending you milkweed (swamp) Jac? Maybe I could stuff some inside a teddy bear and send it to you. hehehe

Don't jest!!! They would probably think it's a new drug and arrest us both, hehe.

Actually, I found someone selling (legitimately) the seeds here, so hopefully it's growing as we speak.

It's just one week into Spring and I have about 20 huge Monarch caterpillars crawling out of a carton (which holds a vase of milkweed), they're going to be pupating all around my house, it's so beautiful. Wish they hadn't pooped on my cream curtains though, it doesn't look so good.

LOL, sorry they pooped on your curtains. I've never had mine inside the house except when I only done a dozen or so a year. I'm glad you got some swamp milkweed there. I'm also jealous it's just starting to be spring there as it's almose fall here. My husband just had a big flight cage built for me, it's awesome. Over 6 feet tall and 3 feet square. They love being able to fly around in there if they have to spend the night. One of these day's i'll learn how to post pics on here and show it off
