Rud. Hirta return

Postby dandjtaylor » Wed Dec 02, 2009 6:53 am

Hello all, has anyone in zone 6b or colder had Rudbeckia Hirta ('Indian Summer' and 'Autumn Colors') return as a perennial? This was my first year with them and I started them in March inside. During the summer, there were huge 5"-7" blossoms all season and they were gorgeous. I am wandering whether I should start more indoors just in case when the time come. I know they re-seed, but I like large or established plants without waiting on the seedlingd to emerge.

Thanks in advance

Reseeding annuals, in my part of the country. Some years I have plenty and then other years an occasional group. I seeded my from seedings in the early spring.

Mona

THanks for your input. Your zone is warmer than mine so I will treat them as annuals as well until I see them sprouting out from a rootball in the spring. I will start indoors as I did last year.
