what time does Atlantis dock w/ISS tomorrow (East Coast time

Postby familyfriendlyschool » Tue Nov 17, 2009 12:35 pm

HI,

Tues. 11/17/09

Can anyone tell us what time Atlantis will dock with the ISS tomorrow - if possible we'd like to watch the feed on NASA tv or other live time.

We're still hoping someone can give us some guidance on our darkness/light exposure for our caterpillars per our earlier questions (we're still a bit confused about exact timing)

caterpillars are healthy under cover of dark and eating like crazy in our two habitats.

Regards,

I recorded yesterday's launch and watched it last night. I think I heard them say they would dock around 10:30 tomorrow morning. I assume that's eastern standard time, but I could very well be wrong.

Best wishes!!

According to the website http://spaceflightnow.com/shuttle/sts12 ... ndex2.html

Atlantis is on track to dock with the space station Wednesday around 11:53 a.m. EST.

Hope you can catch it on NASA TV. Im going to try to do the same.

I think you can find answers to the light/dark question in the Monarch protocol - see item no. 4 regarding the time caterpillars will be unloaded and item no. 6 regarding timing of the light cycle.

If I've interpreted the unloading time correctly, it's 2 days and 12 hours from liftoff - 2:28 PM EST.

And looks like light for 12 hours starting at 8am CST until 8PM CST followed by 12 hour dark period.
Probably following BioServe in Colorado's time.

Hope that helps! Jackie

Hi,
Thanks to those who helped try to answer our light exposure question - I ended up just taking them out of the dark yesterday (Wed. 11/18/09 around 4pm because we couldn't figure out the exact timing despite reading the protocol) - both sets of our caterpillars in both habitats are looking great - one group of 3 is really fat! We have been discussing the term geotaxic (sp) and general concept of gravity.

We're enjoying the pictures posted so far - loving seeing other kids participation from around the country.

We'd like to learn if there is one particular astronaut or "payload specialist" on the ISS who is taking care of the MIS experiment - anyone know?

Sincerely,
