Evening Monarchs Flew in for Nectaring

Postby Mona Miller » Thu Oct 01, 2009 10:11 pm

They surely are traveling. I looked out at my backyard this evening and saw three beautiful Monarchs nectaring. There had been nothing earlier during the day. It is cold and windy here, too. It is supposed to get down into the 40s tonight.

I'm headed for the coast on Sat.--Chincoteague, Virginia. I will meet up with my friend Denise Gibbs. She is a fantastic naturalist. She is bringing over 100 Seaside Goldenrods to plant. I am taking my shovel along to help her plant. The Monarchs traveling along the coast need the nectar of the late blooming Seaside Goldenrods.
