Still have about 30 cats on my milkweeds

I wonder if these cats will still head out to Mexico the majority are in 4th & 5th instar but there are 7 or so in 1st in star. I am in Southern Ca.

The CA Monarchs head up the coast mostly. You might be able to get tags from Monarch Alert to tag them before they leave.

When the adults emerge in mid-late November they will not have much of a migratory instinct and so will tend to stay in your general area. They will also be weak diapausers so some should end up mating and laying eggs.
