strange flower heads

Postby troot » Sat Jul 09, 2005 4:08 pm

Has anyone else noticed the flowerheads of common milkweeds are shaped differently this year? The ones I'm seeing aren't a single large round head - they are elongated, like several little heads next to each other. They flowered normally, but are just a different shape.

By me there has always been alot of little flowers. On the butterfly weed though I have noticed a few orange flowers with the regular red/yellow flowers.
