Milkweed Plants and seeds for free in Green Bay, Wisconsin

Postby GBMonarch » Mon Jun 02, 2008 5:57 am

I have a ton of common milkweed that's taking over my garden. I've have transplanted a lot of plants into pots to give to anyone nearby who'd like to pick it up. I also have seeds for both common and red milkweed (Asclepias incarnata). The seeds are cold stratified and ready to plant. Send me a private email and arrange for pick up. I'm not able to ship plants but will give them to anyone in the area. I could mail seeds, but I'm not sure if I need a license to do so. Does anyone know?

No monarchs here yet. I did see one in Madison, WI last weekend.

There was a black swallowtail in the yard yesterday, but unfortunately I have just planted my dill and golden alexander, so there weren't any host plants for it to lay any eggs on. I told it to come back later in the month!

Looking forward to those first eggs!

They also use Queen Anne's Lace. If you cut it early in the morning and put it into water, it will last several days.

Search this list for Black Swallowtails, you will see there are many hosts in nature. :D

Good Morning,
I realize that this post was from a couple years ago but was wondering if you may have extra milkweed plants again. My mother has been interested in monarchs and I was hoping to find some established plants to get her going. I live in Cambridge, WI so I could come up when you would have the time.
Thank you,
