Monarch Rearing

Postby Sherry » Fri Aug 11, 2006 10:58 pm

Happy to announce this is my 6 th year for rearing Monarch's. It is one of the BEST years yet. Thus far I have released 28 healthy Monarch Butterflies. My husband and I planted more Milkweed around our property. I check it daily, and take in any leaf that has an egg or caterpiller on it. So far we've only had two fatalities due to the fly that lays their eggs on the cats. It's a little work keeping the cages cleaned and fresh Milkweed, but the rewards of releasing a beautiful butterfly is all worth it. I have many many more in the chrysalis stage , the larve stage and lots of eggs still coming on.

Welcome Sherry!
It is awesome isn't it? I wonder how many of our "grandchildren" will be making the trip to Mexico because we raised them. 8)
