How far do the cats wander off from the milkweed when they are ready to pupate? How high up in shrubs or trees? Anyone know? I'm really curious about this.

I have found them 10 to 20 feet away on plants but I don't know if thats the limit or not. My guess is they will go until they find a suitable spot :)

I haven't seen any published "limits" for wandering monarchs, but as Teresa mentioned, they may go some distance - horizontally or vertically - before they find a suitable location to pupate. It is not uncommon to find them on window screens or under the eaves of a house.

Here's one wanderer in a classroom...not sure how far she went though ;-)
