Releasing when temperature is lower than 60 F.

Our Grade 6&7 class participated in the Monarch Watch project. They had 2 males & a female hatch on the weekend. It was cold and raining all weekend & so we kept them until this morning when we released them. We live in Newfoundland, Canada. Today is a relatively warm day for October. The current temp is 60F. The Monarchs did not fly and seem unable to. Currently they are on a platform in my backgarden. Is there anything that I can do to help them? :(

Frankly, it is too cold for them to be active or even survive at this time of year in the wild in Newfoundland, Canada. You should take them in and keep the adults as "pets", feeding them with sugar water and all. They might live several months.
