What causes a Monarch to not zip its proboscis? I have had 3 the past 2 days that have a split proboscis. I have tried to feed them to see if that would help them zip it but its not working..they try to eat with the two.

It is just a defect. I used to have a friend who would roll and unroll. During the process, within about 3 days sometimes the proboscis was fixed.
