Something New This Year

Postby RozieMozie » Mon Aug 16, 2010 7:02 pm

i hah a brain storm while waiting for the butteries to arrive this year ... i decided that i'd try a method to only take off the egg and not the whole leaf ... i hunted down my single hole punch and started punching out the leaves around the eggs ... it worked wonderfully, im leaving the whole leave with only a hole in it, yet im able to take the eggs away ... i did find that i have to clean the hole punch with each leave punch because the sticky milk made it hard to pick the punched leave off it was allowed to build up

Awesome! I always feel bad 'wasting' a leaf when I collect an egg!

Oh--and I recently posted about a problem with leaf pieces molding--how do you keep these little bits of leaf fresh?

i've had a few circles go bad and that kill the egg in the process :( ... one way i keep the fresh is to clean the hole punch with every leave punch, that way i was getting a clean cut every time ... to clean it i do a couple of punches on a baby wipe ... and then i put the punched circles on a wet paper towel ... they do a decent job at staying fresh on the paper towel
