My chrysalis

attached is a photo of my chrysalis. it still looks heathy right? its day 4 today.

Amazing!!! Now I know that cotton shirts will also grab the cremaster hooks. Quick thinking. :cheesy:

well it fell off a few hours after the pic was taken, today, and i had to put it on the top of the butterfly cage.

Remember it doesn't have to be hanging to emerge, but it does need something to climb on. Look at how Monarch Watch emerges their pupae.

my cage is one of those ones from insectlore and has a top with some kind of material made especially to hook on to the cremaster. I just hung it on that, as in this photo.also the reason i never posted pics before is because i lost my camera. The chrysalis is still hanging. I really hope i get a butterfly!!!!!!!!!!! :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy:

by the way, i believe it is a boy monarch. I was hoping for a female. Oh well.

Sexing Monarch Pupae

You would still need a boy to mate with the girl. They need to be 3-5 days old before they are mature enough to lay eggs.
