Any Monarch sightings in Florida?

Postby flgflowers » Mon May 09, 2011 12:56 pm

I have only seen one Monarch and that was about 2 weeks ago. It laid a few eggs on the milkweed in my garden and they shd be hatching in the next few days. Usually by this time I would be seeing at least 2 - 3 Monarchs a day.Is anyone here in Florida seeing Monarchs? I'm really missing the Monarchs. :(

Also, do Monarchs like to nectar on Buddleia bushes, and if so which colors?

The Monarchs like all colors of Buddleia, even white.

Thanks for the information Mona. I had read somewhere that butterflies don't particularly care for the Honeycomb Buddleia. Now I know better.

I'm still only seeing a Monarch about once every two weeks. Actually days go by and I don't see any species of any butterflies. This is very unusual - usually by this time I would be raising Monarch CATS.
I was hoping someone in Florida would respond to my original post and let me know if its just my area
here in Central Fl or if they are scarce elswhere here in Fl.
