Monarch Watch Needs Your Help
---------------------------------------
As of this morning, 38 donors have pledged a total of $3472.00 during our 2010 fundraising campaign -thank you!
As many of you know, Monarch Watch is not funded by the University or any other state/federal agency - we rely on private contributions and the sale of educational/research/promotional items (rearing kits, tagging kits, seed kits, etc.) for support. Keeping Monarch Watch going from year to year has always been a struggle yet somehow we have managed...we've now entered our 19th season - wow!
Last year was the first "Chip in for Monarch Watch" campaign, created in response to requests from several long-time supporters. It was a great success, raising more than $23,000 over two months via nearly 500 donors. As we mentioned earlier this month, these funds put us in the best financial position we have ever been in heading into the winter season.
For those of you in a position to offer financial support to Monarch Watch, please consider making a fully tax-deductible donation of any amount during our 2010 "Chip in for Monarch Watch" campaign, which runs until the end of this month (only one more week!). Complete details, including lots of photos and comments submitted by donors, are available at http://monarchwatch.org/chip
Please help us spread the word to other monarch enthusiasts and thank you again for your continued support!

2010 Fall Monarch Migration
---------------------------------------
The fall migration has begun! In the northern range, that is - here in Kansas it appears that we've had a somewhat unusual mid-August emergence of monarchs which will also lead to late-season production. Although monarch numbers in this area were low throughout the spring and summer, Chip recently wrote that the numbers of monarchs in eastern Kansas are at normal to slightly below normal levels. What are you seeing in your area in terms of monarch numbers? Let us know via our Facebook page at http://facebook.com/monarchwatch
Happy tagging!
