Our 50 Monarchs that were the same age have now been released. They all emerged within 3 days of each other. I have added some photos to our Photobucket album http://photobucket.com/albums/a240/JohnBeaulieu/
of Brenda releasing some of those. Now, a few days later, we still see many of them fluttering around the garden. They are so bright and colourful compared to the older ones seen in the yard. These were the result of an old tattered female that I kept overnight in a cage with a potted milkweed. We knew that she had laid eggs (we thought about 9) but were surprised to count about 50 caterpillars when it was time to replace the plant material.
I have also included some photos of a newly emerging butterfly with it's fat body and small wings as well as others.
